Tactical sequence

Around here at IDPA shoots, they love the tactical sequence and counting stuff. Whether you like it or not, it’s gonna be there.

This means you must put one shot on each target first, before reengaging with a second. With 3 targets, everybody goes 1-1-2-1-1.

So much time is wasted on this type of array. So, let’s see how we can fix it in live fire practice first.

Set up 2 targets at 7 yds. And shoot them 1-2. Stop and reholster. Keep at it until your shots sound like bang..bang.. bang. You shouldn’t hear the transition. If you do, you’re wasting time. It should never sound like bang……….bangbang. Call your shots and push it until you miss. Then back off until 95% are in the zero zone.

Then, put up three targets. Go 1-1-2. After you get it all worked out, you can try the whole thing and put 2 on each. Learn to smoke this array, because its used too often.
